Harley Davidson V Rod – A Muscle Bike!
Harley Davidson V Rod info – The Harley Davidson V Rod was first introduced in 2001. It was the first model of a V Twin Racing Street Custom (VRSC) range, which was developed to contend with the other American and Japanese ‘muscle’ motorcycles. The Harley Davidson V Rod boasted the Revolution engine (60 degree V twin) with fuel injection, liquid cooling and dual overhead cams. The Harley Davidson Revolution engine was made with the assistance of Porsche and can be identified by its 60 degree V twin, hydro formed frame members and radiator. The Harley Davidson V Rod is also identifiable by its fuel tank, as it is located under the seat unlike all other Harley Davidson motorcycles (which are in front of the seat). All VRSC motorcycles are built at Harley Davidson’s operations facility in Blue Springs, Kansas City, Missouri.

Harley Davidson V Rod – VRSCA
Harley Davidson V Rod info – The very first Harley Davidson V Rod was available only in anodized aluminium (VRSCA V Rod) and it wasn’t until 2003 that a 100th year anniversary meant it could be purchased in silver and black paint (from 2004 onwards, the options were expanded). Boasting an 1130 cc Revolution engine, solid disc wheels and a 3.7 fuel tank the Harley Davidson V Rod may not be cheap on the petrol but offers a powerful and enjoyable experience. The Harley Davidson VRSCAW V Rod model succeeded the VRSCA. This was a 105th anniversary V Rod model that was similar to the VRSCA but in a new frame, accommodating a larger rear tire and additional weight (extra 17 kg), but no additional power (remained 1130 cc). In 2008 the V Rod engine size was increased to 1250 cc and an option of ABS added.
Harley Davidson V Rod – VRSCB & D
Harley Davidson V Rod info – The Harley Davidson VRSCB V Rod ran from 2004 to 2005 and had minor differences in its appearance from the VRSCA but was mechanically the same. A polished black aluminium V Rod engine, black frame and different handlebars were amongst the slight differences. The Harley Davidson VRSCD Night Rod was introduced in 2006 and featured a black frame, slotted disc wheels, a colour coded fairing, Brembo brakes and a black and chrome engine. The engine size was increased in 2008 from an 1130 to a 1250 cc for its final year of production. 2007 saw the introduction of the Harley Davidson VRSDX Night Rod special (part of the Harley Davidson Dark Custom series). The chrome was replaced with black, the wheels replaced with black slotted discs and orange pin stripes and the fuel tank made a 5 gallon as standard. In 2008 the VRSCDX Revolution engine was increased from 1130 to 1250 cc.
